American screenwriter Steve Conrad has been tapped as a writer and executive producer on the "Dunk & Egg" prequel series to "Game Of Thrones", which has been in the works at HBO.
"Dunk & Egg", also known as Tales of Dunk & Egg, is based on George R.R. Martin’s series of fantasy novellas.
It is one of several new live-action Game Of Thrones prequel projects that HBO has earmarked for development over the last year, along with a couple of animated ideas that are being considered for HBO Max.
The series is set in the world of Martin’s "A Song of Ice and Fire" on which Game of Thrones was based. It follows the adventures of Dunk (Ser Duncan the Tall) and Egg (the future king Aegon V. Targaryen), some 90 years before the events of A Song of Ice and Fire.
Martin has published three Dunk & Egg novellas to date, "The Hedge Knight" (1998), "The Sworn Sword" (2003), and "The Mystery Knight" (2010).
He has teased multiple upcoming installments in the series whose status is unknown.
The first Game Of Thrones prequel slated to arrive is "House of the Dragon", which is set to debut on HBO next year.
