Production has wrapped on “Freakier Friday," the sequel to the 2003 comedy “Freaky Friday,” starring Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis.

Lohan and Curtis are reprising their roles of Anna and Tess Coleman, respectively.

The Academy Award winner paid tribute to co-star Lindsay Lohan in a heartfelt post as they prepare to wrap production on the long-awaited sequel.

“The last FRIDAY of this FREAKIEST FRIDAY or shall I call it CRYDAY,” Curtis captioned a black-and-white selfie. “We still have a couple days left next week, but it’s winding down and this morning as I arrived at work and looked at the hundreds of people gathering together to make it for the fans, shooting the movie in California, I’m feeling especially grateful to my ULTIMATE movie daughter, @lindsaylohan without whom we could not have made this movie. Ever. She gifted me a @suziekondi shirt after I complimented her on hers and I wore it today in honor of her. Off to wig and work. Thanks for all the @disneyd23 LOVE! It was LEGENDARY!”.

Lohan wrote in the comments section, “So much [love] and gratitude for YOU and this WONDERFUL experience and Many future fun times together to come!!”.

The original film, based on Mary Rodgers’ 1972 novel of the same name, follows single mother Tess and teen daughter Anna Coleman, who switch bodies after opening an enchanted fortune cookie and have to walk a day in each other’s shoes before getting back to normal.

Written by Jordan Weiss and directed by Nisha Ganatra, the sequel sees Anna all grown up with a daughter of her own while also preparing to take on a stepdaughter in her new marriage. With her new family dynamic, a new version of the body swap will ensue.

Filming kicked off in June, as Curtis and Lohan shared a photo shoot in front of their neighboring dressing room trailers. “We’re back!” wrote Lohan.

The duo revealed the sequel’s title earlier this month at the D23 Expo, where Lohan raved that the movie is “more fun, it’s more emotional, and it’s all for you guys.”

Joining Curtis and Lohan are returners Chad Michael Murray, Mark Harmon, Christina Vidal Mitchell, Haley Hudson, Lucille Soong, Stephen Tobolowsky and Rosalind Chao. “The Acolyte” star Manny Jacinto, “Never Have I Ever” breakout Maitreyi Ramakrishnan, Sophia Hammons and Julia Butters round the cast.

Disney officially announced in March 2024 that the sequel was moving forward, with Nisha Ganatra directing.

The filmmaker and screenwriter has helmed episodes of Hulu’s “Welcome to Chippendales” and Max’s “And Just Like That…” and directed feature films “The High Note,” starring Dakota Johnson and Tracee Ellis Ross, and “Late Night,” starring Mindy Kaling and Emma Thompson.

Curtis originally told “The View” in October 2022 that she had personally “written to Disney” that she wanted to make a sequel to the first “Freaky Friday.”

Andrew Gunn, who produced the first movie, is producing the sequel alongside former Disney exec Kristin Burr.

“Freaky Friday 2,” hits theaters in 2025.
