French ambassador in Cairo Stephane Romatet said Monday that France’s President Emmanuel Macron is set to receive his Egyptian counterpart Abdel Fattah El Sisi in Paris in August.

During his word at a ceremony to mark the anniversary of the French Revolution, he added that the meeting demonstrates the importance his government attaches to relations with Egypt.

The ceremony was held at the French embassy in Cairo on Sunday, July 14.

"This was what President Macron said during his meeting with President Sisi in January in Cairo," Romatet said.

He noted that France has a special interest in enhancing its relations with Egypt in the fields of education as well as in projects in new cities, infrastructure projects and energy projects.

He added that the coming meeting between President Sisi and President Macron will focus on a wide range of regional and international issues, including the situation in Libya, Syria and Yemen.

He added that talks between the two leaders would most likely focus on countering terrorism.

The two leaders, he added, would most likely also discuss the Middle East peace process and bilateral cooperation in all fields.

It is noteworthy that Macron invited President Sisi to attend the summit of the 45th Group of Seven (G7) Summit set to be hosted by France this year. The summit will be held in August, in Biarritz, Nouvelle-Aquitaine in France.
