Sisi, Macron Exchange Views on Libya, Sudan during Phone Discussions

Late on Thursday, President Abdel Fattah El Sisi hold phone discussion with French President Emmanuel Macron over issues of common concern.

Presidential spokesperson Ambassador Bassam Rady explained that Egypt's head of state received a call from his French counterpart, where both leaders exchanged views regarding the situation in Libya. Sisi affirmed all support from Egypt to the Libyan National Army (LNA) in fighting terrorist groups, which constitute a threat, not just against Libya, but also for the rest of the region.

On his part, Macron stressed the necessity to settle the dispute as soon as possible.

On other hand, both leaders discussed the situation in Sudan, where Sisi affirmed full support for the people in Sudan and for the sovereignty of their country. He underscored the fact that Egypt did not and does not interfere in the domestic politics of the country, but still all potential international efforts should be exerted to help it gets out of the stalemate.

Spokesperson Rady added that both presidents discussed, in addition, boosting mutual relations and enhancing cooperation in all fields.

President Macron expressed that he is looking forward to meeting Sisi at the upcoming G7 summit to be hosted by France later this year.
