Foreign ministry follows up probe into murder of Egyptian citizen in Riyadh

Egypt's Foreign Ministry expressed on Saturday its great sorrow over the murder of an Egyptian citizen and the injury of another in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

The Egyptian Consulate General in Riyadh immediately dispatched its representative to follow up the probe and identify the circumstances of the accident, Assistant Foreign Minister for Consular and Egyptian Expatriates Affairs Amr Mahmoud Abbas stated, according to Foreign Ministry.

The ministry added that the Saudi authorities succeeded in arresting the perpetrator shortly after the accident, and took legal measures against him as well as hearing the testimonies of eyewitnesses.

The Egyptian consulate is closely following on the medical condition of the surviving victim, the ministry noted.

Moreover, the ministry extended its sincere condolences to the deceased's family for the tragedy.
