Badr Abdelatty, Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Egyptian Expatriates, received a phone call today from Steve Witkoff, U.S. Special Envoy for the Middle East, during the envoy's presence in Bürgenstock, Switzerland, to participate in U.S.-Iran negotiations.
The U.S. Envoy briefed Abdelatty on the latest developments in the U.S.-Iran negotiations, within the framework of joint cooperation and coordination between the two sides.
For his part, FM emphasized Egypt's support for the negotiation track following the conclusion of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the United States and Iran.
Moreover, he expressed hope that the MoU would serve as a launching pad toward enhancing regional security and stability, and open the door to addressing various issues through dialogue and diplomatic means.
On his part, U.S. Envoy expressed appreciation for the role played by Egypt, in coordination with regional partners, in supporting the negotiation process and bridging viewpoints.
At the conclusion of the call, both sides emphasized the continuation of cooperation and coordination between them in a way that contributes to supporting security and stability in the region.
