Egypt’s foreign minister ( FM ) Sameh Shoukry commented on Sunday on Turkish recent statements about opening dialogue and communication channels with Egypt.

During the meeting of the parliament’s Foreign Relations Committee, Shoukry said that Egypt has always been keen on the relations between the Egyptian and Turkish peoples, stressing that the political situation has always been linked to the positions of politicians in Turkey, especially after the negative stances they have taken towards Egypt.

Regarding ties between Egypt and Turkey, the foreign minister said: " there will be no communication outside the normal diplomatic framework, and if we find real actions from Turkey and goals that are consistent with the Egyptian goals and policies aiming at stability in the region, non-interference in the affairs of states and mutual respect, the normal relationship could be resumed."

He concluded: "Words are not enough but actions, and policies could help in restoring normal relationships."
