Egypt's Foreign Minister (FM) Sameh Shoukry is set to receive a high-level delegation from Fatah movement, headed by Jibril Rajoub, secretary-general of the Fatah Central Committee at the ministry's headquarters.
The delegation arrived in Cairo on Sunday, to hold talks with a number of Egyptian senior officials, as well as holding a meeting with the Hamas delegation, which arrived in Cairo a few days ago.
This comes within the framework of the efforts exerted to push forward the inter-Palestinian reconciliation process.
Earlier, Hussein Hamayel, the spokesman of the Fatah movement, said that Egyptian officials welcomed the meeting that brought together Fatah and Hamas movements in Istanbul and its fruitful results.
"Egypt has a pivotal role in the Palestinian cause, and it has supported the Palestinian moves towards reconciliation since its inception," Hamayel stressed in press statements.
After their meeting in Istanbul, Fatah and Hamas have agreed on a common vision for action that would end the intra-Palestinian rift.
Following their direct talks aimed at ending the 14-year-long intra-Palestinian pision, the delegations announced in a statement that they have “reached an agreed-upon vision” to be submitted to the next meeting of the heads of the Palestinian factions that will be chaired by President Mahmoud Abbas and will be held no later than October 1.
