Foreign Minister (FM) Sameh Shoukry held an extensive meeting with the Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations (UN) Amina Mohamed, Executive Secretary of the Economic Commission for Africa (ECA), and Special Representative of the Secretary-General to the African Union (AU) Hanna Tetteh.
This came on the sidelines of the African Union (AU) summit meetings in Addis Ababa.
On Saturday, the Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs Sameh Shoukry took part in the 35th session of the African Union Summit in Addis Ababa that kicked off earlier today, the Egyptian foreign ministry announced in a statement.
Shoukry headed to Ethiopia on Friday to take part in the two-day summit meetings that will deal with a range of issues.
According to the ministry, the summit will discuss peace and security in the continent as well as facing the consequences of the coronavirus, climate change, and economic integration, among other issues.
The 35th Ordinary Session of the Assembly of Heads of State and Government of the AU will be held under the theme ‘Building Resilience in Nutrition and Food Security on the African Continent: Strengthen Agriculture, Accelerate the Human Capital, Social and Economic Development.’
Shoukry is also expected to hold a series of meetings with his African counterparts on the sidelines of the meetings to discuss bilateral relations and exchange views about issues of common interest, the ministry added.
