FM Discusses Regional Calm, Maritime Safety with Omani, Iranian Counterparts

Two phone calls took place between Dr. Badr Abdelatty, Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Egyptian Expatriates, and both Badr bin Hamad Al-Busaidi, Omani Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Abbas Araghchi, Iranian Minister of Foreign Affairs.

The discussions came as part of ongoing consultations regarding regional developments and efforts aimed at de-escalating tensions and restoring peace and stability to the region.

The calls addressed the efforts being made to advance the path of calm and de-escalation.

In this regard, Abdelatty emphasized the importance of an immediate halt to all military operations and escalatory actions, as well as prioritizing political and diplomatic solutions.

Moreover, he noted that such measures are vital to containing rising tensions, preventing the expansion of the conflict, bolstering regional security, and sparing the people of the region further escalation and its consequences.

Furthermore, FM stressed the critical need to preserve freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz and the Red Sea, calling it a fundamental pillar of regional security and stability, as well as essential for safeguarding international trade and global supply chains.

He also reaffirmed the importance of avoiding any actions that could threaten or jeopardize the safety of maritime corridors, thereby protecting the interests of all regional states and the global economy.
