American actress Kristen Stewart is playing late royal Princess Diana Spencer in the upcoming movie, "Spencer".
The first photo from the project has been released on Wednesday. The resemblance between the actress and princess is uncanny.
"Spencer" is written by Steven Knight and directed by Pablo Larraín. Principal photography has begun and filming will take place in Germany and the UK.
It revolves around a weekend at the start of the 1990s when Princess Diana spends a holiday with the British Royal Family and decides to end her tumultuous marriage with Prince Charles.
"Spencer" also stars Timothy Spall, Sally Hawkins, and Sean Harris - although it is not known who will play Prince Charles.
The movie will be the latest production to be entering around the late princess after Emma Corrin played her in the Netflix hit "The Crown".
The show sparked controversy, with culture secretary Oliver Dowden calling for a disclaimer to be added noting that the drama is a work of fiction. However, Netflix declined to add the warning.
The Princess of Wales has been portrayed on screen before by Naomi Watts in the 2013 movie “Diana”.
The movie is expected to debut in the fall ahead of the 25th anniversary of the Princess of Wales' death next year.
In 1981, the princess married Prince Charles, and got separated in 1992, and porced in 1996. She was tragically killed in a car crash in Paris the following year.
