Twilight star Kristen Stewart is set to play the role of Princess Diana Spencer in a new movie entitled "Spencer", about the late princess's break-up from Prince Charles, according to multiple reports.

It is reported that the script will be written by Steven Knight, the creator of Peaky Blinders, and directed by Pablo Larrain.

Director Pablo Larrain described Stewart as "one of the great actors around today".

The movie will be set at Sandringham in the early 1990s and will highlight Diana realizing that her marriage is not working.

"We decided to get into a story about identity, around how a woman decides somehow, not to be the queen," Larrain stated in a press statement.

He added that she is a woman who decides and realizes that she wants to be the woman she was before she met Charles.

The production is scheduled to begin shooting next year.

The news was met with mixed reactions, where some fans found the casting choice to be odd, while some wondered why they did not choose a British actress, however, others found that Stewart is the perfect choice for the role.

In 1981, the princess married Prince Charles, and got separated in 1992 and porced in 1996. She was tragically killed in a car crash in Paris the following year.

The Princess of Wales has been portrayed on screen before by Naomi Watts in the 2013 movie "Diana".

She is also featured in the fourth season of Netflix's royal drama "The Crown", portrayed by newcomer Emma Corrin.

Stewart is best known for playing Bella Swan in the hit Twilight franchise from 2008-2012 and 2014 movie Snow White and the Huntsman.

In 2019, she starred in last year's Charlie's Angels remake, along with Naomi Scott, and Ella Balinska as the titular characters.

It also features stars Sam Claflin, Noah Centineo, Elizabeth Banks, Djimon Hounsou, Magdalena Tan, Luis Gerardo Méndez, Jonathan Tucker, Patrick Stewart.

The film – based on the story by Evan Spiliotopoulos and David Auburn – is an American action comedy film written, directed, and produced by Elizabeth Banks, who previously directed Pitch Perfect 2 and produced the other movies in the Pitch Perfect franchise.

It is the third installment in the Charlie’s Angels film series, which is a continuation of the story that began with the television series of the same name created by Ivan Goff and Ben Roberts and the theatrical films Charlie’s Angels (2000) and Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle (2003).

Sony Pictures Entertainment on September 15, 2015, it was rebooting the franchise. It was later revealed that the new movie would not be a reboot or be a remake of the franchise but rather a continuation of the story of the original series and the McG-directed 2000s films.

An animated prequel web series “Charlie’s Angels: Animated Adventures” was created, which consisted of six episodes.

It revolved around the Angels are on a mission to find U.S. Marshal, Ray Carter was kidnapped until they arrived in Mongolia to rescue, leading the events of Full Throttle.
