Universal Pictures' "Fast X" crossed a major milestone at the worldwide box office.

According to Deadline, the tenth installment of the Fast and the Furious franchise crossed a global box office total of $500 million over the four-day Memorial Day weekend.

Out of this total, $399.3 million came from the international markets, with $108 million from the domestic box office, making for a grand, worldwide total of $507.26 million. Compared to the rest of the franchise, the performance of Fast X is above the earnings of F9 and Hobbs & Shaw, but below those of The Fate of the Furious ($541.9 million) and Furious 7 ($397.6 million).

Overall, the entire franchise has so far earned over $7 billion globally.

"Fast X" debuted in theaters on May 19. Before its premiere, the film was projected for a massive debut of around $295 million at the global box office in its first three days in theaters, comprising $235 million across 81 international markets and a domestic total of $60 million.

The movie surpassed these projections with an opening weekend cume of $319 million worldwide and $67 million domestically. Additionally, the film quickly dominated the international box office upon its theatrical release, making it the second-highest worldwide opening of 2023 at the time and the second-largest overseas take for the Fast franchise behind "The Fate of the Furious".

In its first weekend in theaters, "Fast X" grossed approximately $80.3 million in China alone.

"Fast X" sees Vin Diesel and his co-stars going out with a bang that will satisfy fans.

The movie features the entire cast making appearances including Diesel and franchise regulars such as Sung Kang, Chris ‘Ludacris’ Bridges, Jordana Brewster, Tyrese Gibson, Nathalie Emmanuel, Rodriguez, Scott Eastwood, Cardi B, Michael Rooker, John Cena, and Helen Mirren, and Charlize Theron, who’s played the villain Cypher since “The Fate of the Furious”.

“Fast X” introduces Jason Momoa as the villainous Dante Reyes, who is seeking revenge against the Fast family due to the death of his family during the events of “Fast Five”.

It also introduces newcomers Rita Moreno, Brie Larson, Daniela Melchior, and Alan Ritchson.

The installment also featured the return of Dwayne Johnson and Meadow Walker Thornton-Allan, daughter of the late “Fast and Furious” star Paul Walker, making her first onscreen appearance in the franchise.

"Fast X" is directed by Louis Leterrier from a script by Justin Lin and Dan Mazeau. The first installment of the “Fast and the Furious” franchise premiered in 2001 and now has billions of dollars at the worldwide box office, spin-off movies, spin-off TV shows, amusement park rides, video games, and more.

What started as a simple action movie starring relatively unknown actors like Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, and Michelle Rodriguez has turned into a massive success. It has also helped launch the careers of the people in front of the camera and behind.

“Fast X” is billed by Universal Pictures as the beginning of the end of the saga.

The plan has long been to split the finale into two films, “Fast X” and the upcoming 11th installment.

However, Diesel recently revealed that the franchise finale will expand into a trilogy.

"Going into making this movie, the studio asked if this could be a two-parter, and after the studio saw this one, they said, 'Could you make the finale, a trilogy?" Diesel said.
