Farouk Hosny Foundation to Launch 5th Art Awards on Sep. 1

On Tuesday, the Farouk Hosny Foundation for Culture and Arts will launch the fifth edition of its Art Awards on September 1, the foundation announced on Tuesday.

The competitions will take place in different five art fields, and they are painting, architecture, sculpture, photography, and art critique. 

The Art Awards target supporting the presence of arts and its role in the community, in addition to supporting promising artists and enhancing their creative abilities as youth, is the promising future of society.

The Farouk Hosny Foundation for Culture and Arts also thanked the members of the juries, and the efforts of the Ministry of Culture for supporting the awards and young artists.

In the latest released statement by the foundation, it announced the prizes and the jury members of the competitions. 

The first competition is the Painting one; its jury includes Dr Aleya Abdel Hadi, the former dean of the Faculty of Architecture and Arts, University of Petra, Dr Huessein Al Shabouri, artist and museum display expert, artist Mohamed Abla, artist Samir Fouad, and Dr Ahmed Ragab Saqr, the former dean of Faculty of Fine Arts, Minya University.

The total value of the prize is EGP 100,000, EGP 50,000 for the first place, EGP 30,000 for the second one, and EGP 20,000 for the third.

The upcoming award is Architecture. The names of the jury members are Mohamed Abu Seada, the director of the National Authority of Civilization Coordination, Dr. Soheir Hawass Zaki, Professor of Architecture and Urban Design at the Faculty of Engineering, Cairo University, Hamdy El Sotouhy, a member of The International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS), architect Hatem El Said, and Hesham Soudi, the Head of the Enginers Syndicate in Alexandria.

The total value of the prize is EGP 100,000. EGP 50,000 for the first place, EGP 30,000 for the second one, and EGP 20,000 for the third.

Next is Art Critique Award which is dedicated to fine arts. The jury consists of Dr. Saaed Tawfik, the Professor of Aesthetics and Contemporary Philosophy at the Faculty of Arts, Cairo University, Dr. Amal Nasr, professor and head of the Painting Department, Faculty of Fine Arts, Alexandria University, Dr. Hani Abul Hassan, Professor at Faculty of Arts, Alexandria University, Tarek Abdel Aziz, Fine Art critic and writer, and Fatima Ali, writer, and fine art critic.

The total value of the prize is EGP 60,000. EGP 30,000 for the first place, EGP 20,000 for the second one, and EGP 10,000 for the third.

The next award is dedicated to Sculpture; this award's jury includes Dr Mohammad Al-Alawy, a professor at the Faculty of Fine Arts, Helwan University, and the former vice dean for Graduate Studies and Research of the Faculty of Fine Arts, Helwan University, alongside, Artist Nagi Farid, and Dr. Essam Darwish, Professor at Department of Sculpture, Faculty of Art Education, Helwan University.

It also includes Dr. Marwa Youssef, the former head of the Department of Sculpture, Faculty of Fine Arts at Zamalek, and Artist Ehab El Labban, the director of the Fine and Visual Arts Center at the City of Arts and Culture at the NAC.

The total value of the prize is EGP 100,000, EGP 50.000 for the first place, EGP 30.000 for the second one, and EGP 20.000 for the third.

The final award is Photography. The names of its jury are: DOP Onsi Abu Seif, CEO of the Arts and Culture Complex Dr Ashraf Reda, artist Ayman Lotfi, artist Emad Abdel Hady, and artist Ayman Nassar.

The total value of the prize is EGP 100,000. EGP 50,000 for the first place, EGP 30,000 for the second one, and EGP 20,000 for the third.
