Faia Younan to Make Acting Debut

Assyrian-Syrian singer Faia Younan is all set to venture into the world of acting. She is expanding from behind the mic to a role on the small screen.

Younan has finished filming her role in the series, which is set to premiere in the coming period.

The untitled series is a romance-comedy and features several musicals by the singer.

Younan has opened up about her acting debut, saying: "I embarked on this experience out of my strong love for art,".

The singer was quick to pressure fans that singing remains her first passion.

"Acting is exhausting and more tiring than singing, but I enjoyed it a lot," she added.

On the other hand, Younan alongside veteran Egyptian singer Medhat Saleh will kick off the 31st edition of the Salah El-Din Citadel International Festival for Music and Singing on Friday, August 25.

The festival will open at 08:00 PM and continue for 14 consecutive days. It is organized by the Cairo Opera House, headed by Dr. Khaled Dagher and held in cooperation with the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities.

The upcoming edition features serious creative colors that suit the tastes of different age and social groups.

The festival consists of 45 diverse performances, including Egyptian and Arab musicians presenting shows for the first time. It will also feature performances by international troupes in cooperation with the Foreign Cultural Relations Sector.

The lineup features many prominent singers such as Walid Toufic, Simone, Hany Shaker, Nadia Mustafa, Ali El Haggar, Hisham Abbas, Lena Chamamyan, Ghalia Benali, Nesma Mahgoub, and Rock band Wust El-Balad.

It will also feature performances by musicians such as Omar Khairat and Hisham Kharma.

The festival will hold two consecutive concerts at the El-Mahky theatre and a third at the open-air theatre.

Moreover, 5,000 seats were placed and Stage LED screens were set up for the event to further enhance the viewing experience of attendees.

The Salah El-Din Citadel International Festival for Music and Singing is one of the well-established and most important events organized by the Ministry of Culture. Since its foundation in 1990, the festival has succeeded in achieving huge popularity due to the diversity and richness of its artistic program.
