The last week of the first edition of the New Alamein Festival in Egypt's North Coast will host the second edition of the Cairo Drama Festival (CDF), on Thursday, August 24.

The CDF, headed by veteran Egyptian actor Yehia El-Fakharany, will be held under the title “60 Years of Drama” and celebrates the 60th anniversary of the production and screening of the first Egyptian TV series. 

The jury is chaired by director Gamal Abdel Hamid and includes Elham Shahin, Karim Abdel Aziz, critic Tarek El Shennawy, and the writer Abdel Rahim Kamal.

This edition is witnessing strong competition between 58 TV series that screened on TV and digital platforms throughout the year, in a new experience that was not only limited to Ramadan TV series. 

The festival has also introduced the audience award, which allows Egyptian and Arab audiences to vote for the best series, cast, and crew who participated in these works through the link: https://www.starscraperawards.com/Survey

Awards will be distributed for Best Series, Best Comedy Series, Best Director, Best Actor and Actress, Best Supporting Actor and Actress, Best New Actor and Actress, Best Author, Best Cinematography, Best Decoration, Best Soundtrack, Best Screenplay, and Best Montage.

The ceremony will also feature the honoring of many individuals who influenced Egyptian art with their work including, late iconic actors Mahmoud ElMeligy, Abdullah Ghaith, and Hamdi Ghaith as well as veteran Egyptian actors Salah El Sa'dany and Hassan Youssef.

The second edition is organized by the United Media Services Company - the strategic partner of the festival - in cooperation with the Actors' Syndicate. 

The festival honors the best drama of the year as well as stimulates creativity and develops the artistic production industry, and enhances the enlightening role of drama in shaping society's awareness of the most important issues and promoting human values.

Cairo Drama Festival

The inaugural edition of the New Alamein Festival will run from July 13 to August 26, under the title "Alalam Alamein" (Alamein World). It is the largest entertainment event in the Middle East and will bring together the best of art, sports, and entertainment.

The festival program brings together the best of art, sports, and entertainment, starting with concerts for local, Arab, and international artists to sporting events featuring international teams. Visitors can also enjoy a variety of exhibitions and food stalls.

The New Alamein Festival comprises 12 activities, including a global fashion show by the top 10 fashion designers in the Arab world, a beach football championship, RC aircraft shows, a rowing championship, and an international badminton championship, among other events.

It targets boosting tourism and entertainment for tourists and Egyptians in this area to upgrade the city to be an international spot for tourism.

The festival is expected to draw one million visitors.
