Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI) delivered the Ever Even, the sixth vessel in a series of methanol dual-fuel container ships built for Evergreen Marine Corporation, marking another step in the Taiwanese carrier's fleet modernization strategy aimed at reducing carbon emissions.
The vessel is part of an order placed by Evergreen in mid-2023 for a series of 16,556 twenty-foot equivalent unit (TEU) container ships equipped with dual-fuel propulsion systems capable of operating on methanol. According to shipping consultancy Alphaliner, each vessel in the series carries an estimated construction value of $195 million.
Measuring 369 meters in length and 53.6 meters in beam, Ever Even has a container capacity of 16,556 TEUs arranged across 21 container rows. The vessel belongs to Evergreen's new E-Class fleet and has a deadweight tonnage (DWT) of 184,268 metric tons, with a maximum draft of 17.5 meters.
Powering the ship is a MAN B&W 9G95ME-C10.5-LGIM-TIII main engine generating 43,200 kilowatts, enabling the vessel to achieve a service speed of approximately 22 knots.
The ship is also equipped with five auxiliary generators producing a combined electrical output of 20,360 kilowatts, sufficient to power around 1,200 refrigerated containers, although Evergreen has not officially confirmed the exact number of reefer plugs installed onboard.
The delivery reflects the shipping industry's accelerating investment in alternative-fuel vessels as operators prepare for increasingly stringent environmental regulations and seek to lower lifecycle greenhouse gas emissions.
Ever Even is scheduled to enter commercial service on the NEU7 route operated by the Ocean Alliance, a service marketed by Evergreen under the CES network.
