A US company plans to build an artillery rocket manufacturing plant in Latvia under a memorandum of understanding signed with the Latvian government, the country's Economy Ministry announced.
The project, agreed with US-based Native Trading, is expected to attract at least €70 million in private investment and be completed within 24 months.
The facility will cover the full production process, including solid rocket fuel manufacturing, warhead filling, final assembly and testing. The rockets are intended to supply both the Latvian military and international markets.
The announcement comes as NATO continues to strengthen its presence along its eastern flank, while Russia has repeatedly criticized the alliance's military build-up near its western borders.
