EU's High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and his accompanying high-level delegation visited The National Museum of Egyptian Civilization (NMEC) on Monday.
They were received by Ahmed Ghoneim, Managing Executive Director of NMEC, who gave them an overview about the unique location of the museum, its history as well as its cultural and societal role.
Accompanied by Marian Adel, curator of the museum, the visitors toured the Central Exhibition Halls, Egyptian Textiles Hall, and the Royal Mummies Hall.
She gave him a full explanation of the museum's holdings and the sequence of the different historical eras of the displayed artifacts, from prehistoric times to the current era.
On his part, Borrell expressed his admiration for the significant artifacts, especially those in the main hall.
At the end of the tour, EU High Representative was keen to record a word in the guests' book.
Moreover, Dr. Ahmed Ghoneim was keen to present a catalogue of royal mummies to the EU's senior official.
