The Head of the EU Delegation in Cairo Christian Berger concluded the activities of the Nut Civil Society Forum. It is one of the projects dedicated to promoting women's rights and is backed by the EU.
The forum took place on the sidelines of the Aswan International Women's Film Festival.
Berger listened to various voices and perspectives of the participants to determine their future needs.
Berger said that the EU is working on various programs in Aswan that focus on financial, social, and cultural support for women in addition to organizing an annual campaign to compete against violence against women.
He added that the EU is working with the National Council for Women and the Ministry of Social Solidarity to reach women who are not connected with official institutions to empower them.
However, for the first time since its establishment four years ago, the EU backed Nut Forum by adapting a project for enhancing and protecting women's rights. The project is based on a series of seminars and sessions about violence against women and women trafficking, in addition to the role of cinema in discussing such issues.
Finally, the EU ambassador asserted that the recommendations of the forum will include the necessity of bridging between women's voices, filmmakers, and scriptwriters to present an accurate presentation of women's issues.
