EU, Cairo Governor Discuss Expanding Cooperation on Sustainable Urban Development

European Union (EU) Ambassador to Egypt Angelina Eichhorst met Cairo Governor Ibrahim Saber to discuss expanding cooperation on sustainable urban development and improving public services, coinciding with the capital's celebration of the 1,057th anniversary of its foundation.

The meeting focused on Cairo's ongoing urban transformation, future development priorities, and opportunities to deepen cooperation between the European Union and Cairo Governorate to enhance the quality of life for residents.

The two sides explored ways to broaden collaboration in support of sustainable urban development, building on Egypt's efforts to modernize infrastructure and improve municipal services across the capital.

The discussions also addressed Cairo's current development projects and plans for the coming period, with both sides emphasizing the importance of partnerships that promote sustainable and inclusive growth.

According to Eichhorst, the EU reaffirmed its commitment to working with Egyptian partners to support development initiatives that deliver tangible benefits to citizens and contribute to more resilient and livable cities. 

The meeting took place as Cairo marked the 1,057th anniversary of its founding, highlighting the city's historical significance alongside its ongoing urban development agenda.
