The Ethiopian embassy in Khartoum denied, on Saturday, the reports published by some media about the Sudanese Foreign Ministry summoning the Ethiopian ambassador in Khartoum.

In a statement issued by the Ethiopian embassy in Khartoum, it said: “We knew about some media reports, spreading rumors about the recall of the Ethiopian ambassador in Khartoum by the Sudanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs due to the recent developments on the borders between Sudan and Ethiopia.

The embassy of Addis Ababa confirmed that "These reports are false and encourage discord and disagreement by giving an image that does not reflect the truth.

Also, Sudanese diplomatic sources in Addis Ababa confirmed that what was reported by the media, regarding the Ethiopian Foreign Ministry's summoning of Jamal Al-Sheikh, the Sudanese ambassador in Addis Ababa, due to the recent border events with Sudan, is not true.

The sources added that the Sudanese ambassador is in Djibouti to arrange for the IGAD summit, which will be launched on Sunday to discuss the current issues in the region.

Last Thursday, Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed said that the links between Khartoum and Addis Ababa would not be broken because of the recent border events between the two countries.

Abiy tweeted that "His government is closely following up on the events of the Ethiopian-Sudanese border with local militias on the border between the two countries."

The Prime Minister continued, "Such events will not break the ties between the two countries because the two countries always use dialogue to resolve the contentious issues between them."

He concluded his tweet, commenting on the attack by local militias on Sudanese forces in the border area, saying: "It is clear that those who provoke differences do not understand the strength of the historical ties between the peoples of the two countries."

The Sudanese Cabinet issued a statement on Wednesday, about the events on the borders, confirming its confidence in the ability of the armed forces to control the borders.
