On Thursday, the Sudanese army announced that it has sent large reinforcements to the border with Ethiopia after the killing of a number of its soldiers, according to the Al-Arabiya News website.

In a statement, the Sudanese army said that Khartoum has lodged a complaint with the African Union (AU) and the "IGAD" organization on the Ethiopian attacks.

"Contacts are underway with Addis Ababa to stop the attacks by Ethiopian militias and forces," the army said, stressing: "We will strongly confront any military attempts to penetrate our borders."

It is worth mentioning that, a high-ranking source in the Qadarif state’s government in eastern Sudan revealed Wednesday that Ethiopian militias killed a Sudanese Major in an ambush on the border strip, according to Russia Today.

The same source said that the Sudanese army launched an attack this morning, and fierce battles took place that led to the killing of three Sudanese army soldiers in the Al-Asra area on the border strip.

The source emphasized that the Sudanese army had taken back Sudanese areas occupied by Ethiopian farmers in recent days, which the Ethiopian army considered a provocation.
