Over the past years, the country has succeeded in overcoming many challenges it has faced. It has also succeeded in preserving the capabilities of the Egyptian people and consolidating security and social stability throughout the country.
A comprehensive program of economic and social reform has been implemented, resulting in an increase in growth rates and reducing the budget deficit. It also reduced the unemployment rates and reduced inflation.
The petroleum sector contributed to the advancement of the national economy and continued to play its role as an engine of growth.
In 2018/2019, the oil and gas sector contributed 27% of the state's GDP, worth EGP 1.4 trillion.
The petroleum sector achieved, for the first time in many years, a trade surplus for the year 2018/2019. It succeeded in converting the growth rate of the gas sector during previous years from negative 11% to positive 20%. This enabled the country to achieve self-sufficiency, resume exports, and attract new investments to Egypt to search for oil and gas.
