English actress Emilia Clarke will star in the sci-fi romantic comedy movie “The Pod Generation”.
MK2 Films has boarded international sales while CAA Media Finance is handling domestic rights.
Oscar-nominated Chiwetel Ejiofor will also star in the movie.
“The Pod Generation” is slated to begin shooting in March 2022.
Mk2 Films is set to share the script and sizzle reel at the virtual American Film Market, which will take place from November 1–5.
Directed by Sophie Barthes, the movie is set in a near-future where AI is all the rage and nature is becoming a distant memory.
The story revolves around a New York couple Rachel (Clarke) and Alvy (Ejiofor), who are ready to take their relationship to the next level and start a family.
Rachel’s work gives them the opportunity to use a new tool developed by a tech giant, Pegasus, that offers couples the option to share pregnancy on a more equal footing via detachable artificial wombs or pods. Alvy, a botanist and devoted purist, has doubts but his love for Rachel prompts him to take a leap of faith.
