Egyptian actress Eman El Assi will not reprise her role as Dalal Fatahallah in season two of the hit TV series “Gaafar El Omda”.
El Assi stole the show with her outstanding performance during the first season, which was one of the most-watched TV series during its premiere in the Ramadan 2023 drama marathon and featured the usual Mohamed Ramadan fix.
The series also starred Zeina, Mai Kassab, Menna Fadali, Hala Sedki, Ahmed Dash, and others.
It was scripted and directed by Mohamed Sami and marked Ramadan and Sami’s fourth collaboration after the 2020 TV series “Al Prince”, the 2016 TV series “Al-Ostora”, and the 2017 film “Jawab E'teqal”.
The series opened up, as the actor's series usually do, with great tragedy: a kidnapped child, accidental killings, time in prison, and enemies galore, etc, as part of the package that comes with Gaafar, a rather fit 50-something real estate mogul living in El Sayeda Zeinab.
He is still trying to find his missing son and is fighting off his enemies right, left, and center.
Ramadan never fails to deliver his tried and true formula — fight scenes, sweet-talking the women, and doling out justice on family members who have a tendency to betray him.
On June 13, the TV series has been renewed for season 2. It is directed by Mohamed Sami from a screenplay he co-wrote with Mohab Tarek.
It was recently announced that Zeina will not be returning for the upcoming season.
The series is produced by Media Hub and is set to screen during the Ramadan 2024 drama marathon.
