El Foustat Traditional Crafts and Ceramic Centre is located in El Foustat area in Cairo.
The centre is known to produce porcelain and pottery since before the Islamic conquest of Egypt in 641. The idea of El Foustat Traditional Crafts center was developed by the prominent potter Said El Sadr in 1958 .
It was the first city founded by the Muslims in Egypt, very near to early Christian and Jewish settlements whose churches and synagogue still remain in the area.

The building consists of workshops, lecture areas, dormitories, exhibition galleries, glazing rooms, offices, a multi-purpose hall, and guest rooms for artists.
The main goal of the center is to keep the traditional crafts from extinction and train a new generation of potters and craftsmen who are willing to acquire a profession.
Crafts Centre has been long a gathering place for artists and craftsmen from many countries.

The center houses a museum for porcelain ceramic artists in Egypt, including the wizard of pots, Nabil Darwish, Mervat Al Swaify.
In 2001, the Egyptian Culture Ministry started the development of the small Atelier founded by the late artist Al Sadr to a center of ceramic art and crafts.
