Dr. Mostafa El Feki, Director of the Library of Alexandria, received today, Friday, Britain’s Prince Charles and his wife Princess Camilla.
Prince Charles and Princess Camilla toured the Manuscript Museum, Archaeology Museum, Children's Library, and the Callimachus Triangle.
Prince Charles expressed his appreciation for the warm reception and hospitality he received in Egypt and his keenness to visit the country as part of his first official tour abroad on behalf of the Queen since the beginning of the Coronavirus pandemic, in light of the specificity of the traditional relations between the two countries.
Prince Charles also lauded the pivotal and balanced role that Egypt plays in dealing with many international issues under the leadership of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, as well as maintaining security and stability in the region.
He also expressed Britain's interest in boosting joint cooperation with Egypt in that framework, to benefit from its experience in consolidating the role of religions as an incubator for positive social development that develops the inpidual's awareness of their role and duties towards their society, stability, and development.
El Feki stated that the library is proud of this historic visit of His Royal Highness Prince Charles and Camilla to the library, and touring the museums and various cultural and artistic centers, as it is the oldest library in the world despite its cut off 2000 years and re-opening 20 years ago but in the condition of its foundation.
The Director of the Library of Alexandria added that Prince Charles has a special place in the hearts of Egyptians and Muslims due to his clear fairness to the Islamic religion that was demonstrated years ago at his well-known lectures, whether at Oxford University or at Al-Azhar Al-Sharif.
El Feki affirmed that he had the honor of receiving Prince Charles, when he was serving as the director of the British University, on the day of its inauguration.
He expressed his happiness on sharing his birthday with him, despite the different years, adding that the visit also coincides with the birthday of El Sisi and noted all of these things confirm that this is a blessed visit.
