Egypt's Non-oil Exports Reach $14.3 Billion within 7 Months

The General Organization for Import and Export Control (GOEIC) revealed that the volume of Egyptian non-oil exports during the first 7 months of the year 2020 amounted to about $ 14.26 billion.

The GOEIC added in a statement on Sunday that exports decreased by 3.9% to reach $1.941 billion in July, compared to $2.021 billion a year earlier.

The organization stated that Egypt exports to the Arab League countries amounted to $792 million, followed by the European Union (EU) countries with a value of $433 million, then Asian countries at $279 million, followed by the rest of the world with a value of $195 million.

Egypt exports to the United States reached $148 million, followed by African countries with a value of $130 million.

GOEIC stated that 4 export councils, most notably the Building Materials, which increased to $ 547 million last July, compared to $ 494 million, year-on-year basis, then the Furniture Export Council with $ 26 million in July compared to about $ 24 million a year earlier.

The 20 most important industrial commodities exports

GOEIC indicated that the 20 most important industrial commodities from Egypt's non-oil exports last July amounted to $ 1.018 billion.  Exports of gold came on top of the list followed by oils, nitrogen fertilizers, display screens, insulated wires and cables, and ready-made garments.

Propylene polymers, ranked ninth in terms of the 20 most important exported industrial commodities, followed by mixtures of aromatic materials, ethylene polymers, furniture, products laminated with 600 mm cylinders, phosphates, building stones, polyacetals, medicines, and chloride polymers.

Moreover, panels, film sheets, aluminum, and laundry formulas came at the end of the list.

With regard to the 20 most important food commodities from Egypt's non-oil exports in July, the organization stated that it amounted to $ 222 million, topped by fresh and dried grapes, soybean oil, cheese, frozen vegetables, then dry legumes, frozen fruits, and plants.

GOEIC added that preserved vegetables ranked eighth in terms of the 20 most important exported food commodities, followed by food pastes and chocolate, starch leftovers, flour, tobacco, seeds, sugarcane , and bakery products.

In addition, fruit juices, fresh and dried citrus fruits, and dried greens came at the end of the list.
