Egypt's Exports to EU Hit $37.6 Bln

The Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics  (CAPMAS) revealed the increase of Egypt's exports to the European Union countries to record $37.6 billion over the past 5 years.

The data indicated that the value of these exports amounted to $6 billion in 2016 compared to $5.7 billion in 2015, an increase of 5.3%, and $7.7 billion in 2017, an increase of 28.3 %.

The value reached about $9 billion in 2018, an increase of 17.9% compared to the year 2017, and $9.2 billion in 2019, an increase of 1.7%.

Italy ranked first in the list of the top ten countries in the European Union importing from Egypt in 2019 with a value of $1.7 billion, followed by the United Kingdom with $1.5 billion, Spain $1 billion, Malta $893.5 million, and Greece $707.5 million.

The value of Egyptian exports to France scored about $655.1 million, Germany $611.1 million, the Netherlands $536.5 million, Belgium $345.5 million, and finally Slovakia $202.9 million.

Egypt's petroleum products comes on top of exports' list

Fuel and petroleum products and mining products came on top of the list of Egyptian exports to the EU with a value of $3.4 billion, or 37.2% of Egypt's total exports to these countries in 2019, followed by chemical and plastic products at $1.5 billion, or 16.3%. Moreover, food, beverages and tobacco recorded $1.2 billion, or 12.9% of the overall exports portfolio.

The date added that the value of Egypt's exports of textile fibers, spinning and weaving products amounted to about $965.5 million, or 10.5%. Machinery, electrical devices and transportation equipment amounted to $922.4 million or 10%, and metal products reach $595 million or 6,5%.

Finally, the value of Egyptian exports of marble, stones, ceramics and glass products to the European Union countries amounted to about $307.8 million, or 3.3%, and finally rubber, leather, wood, agricultural products and paper recorded $166.7 million, or 1.8%.
