Egypt`s Nassar, DIHK President Discuss Ways of Economic Cooperation

Egypt`s Minister of Trade and Industry Amr Nassar held a meeting with Dr. Eric Schweitzer, President of Association of German Chambers of Industry and Commerce(DIHK) to discuss ways of enhancing economic cooperation between Egypt and Germany.

During the meeting, Nassar said: “the Egyptian-German economic relations are close and strategic.” “It is based on a long history of joint trade, industrial and investment cooperation between the two countries and aimed at boosting the growth rates of Egyptian and German economists alike.”

He added “the current period witnesses intensive efforts officially and at the level of businessmen to upgrade bilateral relations between the two countries to unprecedented levels.

The minister said that the intensive visits of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi to Berlin during the last period contributed to the strengthening of Egyptian-German relations to unprecedented levels in various fields and at all levels.

He pointed out that the great success achieved by German industrial projects in the Egyptian market reflects the level of distinguished economic cooperation between the governments and business circles in both countries.

“Germany is one of the most important trade partners of Egypt at the bilateral level and within the framework of the European Union,” said Nassar. “The Ministry is keen to transfer advanced German technology and expertise to the national industry through activating joint education and training programs in all industrial fields.”

On his part, Dr. Schweitzer said that the current period is witnessing unprecedented cooperation between business circles in Egypt and Germany in various economic fields.

He stressed that need to implement incentive programs to attract German investments to the Egyptian market, especially in the automotive industry and renewable energy projects.

Schweitzer added that DIHK has 79 chambers and has 140 branches in 92 countries and contributes effectively to the promotion of economic cooperation between Germany and various countries of the world.

The event was attended by Mr. Jan Noether, CEO of German-Arab Chamber of Industry and Commerce, Mr. Dombrowski, Dieter, Member of the German Parliament, Eng. Emad Ghaly, CEO of Siemens Egypt and Chairman of the Commercial Representation Authority Ahmed Antar.

Noether said that the geographical location of Egypt qualifies it as an important industrial and commercial hub for African markets.

He pointed out to the importance of establishing joint Egyptian-German working groups to discuss future cooperation fields in all industrial fields.
