Russia's Arina Besirava Wins "Eyes of the Children of the Islamic World" Contest

Egypt’s Minister of Culture, Ines Abdel-Dayem, felicitated the winners of a children’s drawing competition, entitled “Cairo in the Eyes of the Children of the Islamic world,” organized by the Ministry of Culture under the theme of “Capital of Culture in the Islamic World 2022.”

The title was given to a Russian girl named, "Arina Besirava", who received the golden award for her artwork, which depicted the heritage of minarets of Cairo.

Meanwhile, ten tiny winners and participants of the competition, who came from 40 countries across the world, were awarded medals and certificates by the minister.

The minister also took this occasion to express her happiness about what the children had achieved during the competition, saying: "I am glad to see these beautiful artworks which they painted with their tiny brilliant fingers."

Moreover, the minister noted that this celebration aims to strengthen ties among Muslim peoples, initiate a creative dialogue among them, encourage the intellectual communication among the citizens of Islamic nations, capitalize on the rich Islamic heritage, promote tolerance and coexistence, and offer a factual image of the ancient Islamic civilization.

The head of the Russian Cultural Center Murad Gatin expressed his pleasure at taking part in this celebration, noting that Russia’s winning reflects the prize how the Russian children are fascinated, and influenced by Egypt’s position and history as well.

He also stressed the common values and bilateral relations between Egypt and Russia have always been recognized and inspired by the people of the two nations as well as the political leadership.

The event that took place at the Children’s Culture Garden in the Al-Sayeda Zainab district; it featured marvelous musical and spiritual chanting performances in addition to a drawing exhibition.

The celebration included various artistic events, such as creative concerts for religious and spiritual chanting, an exhibition of reproductions of children’s pictures of Egypt’s mosques, “consisting of pictures of a large group of mosques” dating back to 1920, a heritage competition in photography, an “exceptional session” about the countries of the Islamic world, and a lyrical performance of the operetta “Ahln Ramadan.”

Moreover, the celebration of Ahlan Ramadan presented a theatrical show consisting of a collage of the most important folkloric works that delight the audience, including works such as “Ramdan Gana” and “El-Sira el Helalya.”

It’s worth mentioning that the Ahlan Ramdan program coincided with the Capital of Culture in the Islamic World 2022 celebrations.
