Egypt’s Ministry of Finance launched the country’s first electronic application for real estate taxes, introducing a fully digital system designed to simplify tax procedures and improve government services.

Ragab Mahrous, adviser to the head of the Egyptian Tax Authority, said the new platform represents an integrated system that goes beyond real estate taxes, also covering real estate transaction taxes.

Speaking during a television interview, Mahrous explained that the ministry is working to transform all procedures across revenue-related authorities, including the Tax Authority, Customs Authority and Real Estate Tax Authority, into a unified digital framework.

The new system replaces traditional paper-based procedures with electronic services covering the entire process, from submitting tax declarations to calculating and paying due taxes.

Mahrous noted that the electronic declaration mirrors the previous manual process, allowing taxpayers to submit details of all owned properties, including number of residential units, property locations, unit areas, and property values.
