Egypt's Minister of Culture Neveen El Kilany, held a meeting with Dr. Nuria Sanz, OIC of the UNESCO Office in Cairo, to discuss a program celebrating the 20th Anniversary of the Convention of Safeguarding Intangible Cultural Heritage Adoption, in the presence of Dr. Nahla Imam, Advisor for Intangible Cultural Heritage Affairs.
During the meeting, they discussed means of future cooperation between them and ways for coordinating efforts to celebrate the achievements of the convention and reflect on future directions.
El Kilany also hailed UNESCO for its role in raising awareness about the importance of Egypt’s rich and diverse intangible treasures.
They agreed to continue with the special Program on traditional food systems in Egypt through a series of scientific and professional workshops to underline the significance of Egypt's traditional foodways, including recipes, cooking methods, and mealtime rituals, that are passed down through generations and represent the Egyptian community's unique cultural identity and heritage.
