Egypt’s Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Khaled Al-Anany held a meeting on Thursday with British Minister for South Asia, North Africa, the United Nations and the Commonwealth at the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) Lord Tariq Ahmad and his accompanying delegation.
During the meeting, Al-Anany welcomed the UK Government's decision to amend the travel guidelines to the southern part of South Sinai and Fayoum Governorate, Egypt, to be safe areas for British tourists, noting that the step is expected to improve tourist flows in these attractive destinations.
The meeting included discussions on the tourism ministry’s efforts to organize the first youth forum on climate change as part of the country’s preparations to host the Conference of the Parties (COP27), slated for November in the Red Sea city of Sharm El-Sheikh, according to a statement released by the ministry.
They also held talks on enhancing Egypt's efforts in the transformation to a green sustainable economy, the statement added.
Last month, the minister paid a visit to the UK, where he met with the British governmental figures, officials of the Association of British Travel Agents (ABTA), and a number of tour operators to Egypt, to promote Egypt's tourism.
