During the "Chinese Bridge" contest held at the theater of Confucius Institute for Chinese Learning at Cairo University, students from 13 Egyptian schools showcased their Chinese language proficiency.
The participants delivered themed speeches, participated in a quiz, and demonstrated their talents by reciting poems, singing songs, and performing voiceovers in Chinese.
Nora Ahmed, a student from the Egyptian Chinese Friendship School in Giza province, won first place and expressed her happiness at the cultural bridge that learning Chinese has created between Egyptian and Chinese cultures. Lu Chunsheng, minister counselor at the Chinese Embassy in Egypt, presented Ahmed with the award.
The competition also saw two students win second place, three attain third place, and seven receive certificates of encouragement. Among the winners was Rodaina Bassem, a 15-year-old student, who expressed her interest in learning Chinese due to her father's encouragement and frequent business trips to China.
The competition was supported by Egyptian teachers of the Chinese language, who rehearsed with their students backstage. Reny Osama, an Egyptian teacher, emphasized the successful experience of teaching Chinese in Egyptian schools. Rehab Mahmoud, director of the Confucius Institute of Cairo University, praised the students' performance as a demonstration of the fruitful growth of Chinese language education in Egyptian schools.
