The Egyptian National Theatre Festival, headed by actor Mohamed Riad, has announced that acclaimed actress, producer, and TV host Esaad Younes will be honored during its 19th edition in recognition of her remarkable contributions to Egyptian theatre and her distinguished artistic career.

The festival said the tribute comes as part of its annual tradition of celebrating prominent figures who have left a lasting impact on Egypt's theatrical movement.

Younes has enjoyed a theatre career spanning several decades, appearing in more than 15 stage productions that ranged from comedy to social drama.

Among her most notable performances are W El Sayeda Hormaha, alongside the late actor Youssef Shaaban, Arousa Tegannen, Ballo, Al Dukhool Bel Malabes Al Rasmeya, and Goha Yahkom Al Madina.

Commenting on the honor, Younes expressed her pride in being recognized by the festival, describing the award as particularly meaningful because of her deep connection to the stage.

"I truly cherish this honor because it comes from the National Theatre Festival. Theatre was not just a phase in my career, it was the school where I learned discipline, commitment, and respect for the audience. I still believe it is the foundation upon which every true artist is built," she said.

She added that despite her success in cinema, television, and broadcasting, theatre has always remained central to her artistic identity.

"Standing on stage gives an artist a unique sense of responsibility and creates a genuine, direct connection with the audience. It is an experience unlike any other artistic medium," Younes noted.

She also thanked the festival organizers for the recognition and expressed hope that Egyptian theatre will continue discovering new talent and nurturing future generations of artists as one of the country's most important pillars of cultural soft power.

Festival president Mohamed Riad said Younes' selection reflects appreciation for her rich artistic journey and the lasting influence of her theatrical work.

He stressed that her productions remain an integral part of Egypt's theatrical legacy, adding that honoring her during the festival's 19th edition highlights the event's commitment to celebrating artists who have enriched the country's theatre scene and helped shape its history.
