The 19th Egyptian National Theatre Festival continues its official competition on Monday with six performances taking place across Cairo, as the festival runs through 11 August.

The evening programme begins at 7:00 p.m. with "Metwally and Shafiqa" at Al-Tali'a Theatre, directed by Amir El-Yamani, while "Sama", a monodrama starring Marwa Abdel Moneim and directed by Ayman Mostafa, will be staged at El-Hanager Theatre.

At the same time, Al-Ghad Theatre will present "Adagio... The Last Melody", adapted from a novel by Ibrahim Abdel Meguid and directed by El-Saeed Mansi, blending music and drama in a story exploring love, memory and psychological conflict.

The 9:00 p.m. programme features "Gharam fi El-Karnak", directed by Tamer Abdel Monem, alongside "Layalina" at Metropol Theatre, adapted from Noaman Ashour's play The People Downstairs and directed by Mohamed El-Hadary.

Also scheduled for 9:00 p.m. is "The Weekly Training Sessions for Learning the Ideal Way to Put Something in the Trash", produced by the Higher Institute of Theatrical Arts in Alexandria and directed by Mostafa Amer.

Festival organisers confirmed that free tickets are available through the festival's online booking platform, with reservations opening at midnight on the day of each performance.
