The Sharm El-Sheikh Museum, in South Sinai Governorate, has received three large artifacts from the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir, downtown Cairo, within the scenario of its museum show, in preparation for its opening soon.

Dr. Ali Omar, Chairman of the Supreme Committee of the Scenario of the Museum Show, said that these pieces include the two wooden Dahshur boats and a statue of the baboon standing in the lullaby setting for the sunrise.

He pointed out that the boats are more than 10 meters long and 2.30 meters wide. The boats belong to King Senusret III, a famous Pharaoh from the Middle Kingdom of Ancient Egypt.

They will be shown inside a hall designated for them inside the museum.

Moamen Othman, head of the Museums Sector, explained that these boats were discovered next to the pyramid of Senusert III in Dahshur, south to Giza.

They were transferred to the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir where they have been re-composed and displayed there since 1910. They were transported to Sharm El-Sheikh Museum by using the latest scientific methods to ensure their safety and preservation during the transfer process.

The two boats were transported by using a metal chassis made of stainless steel for easy movement and lifting in safety without prejudice to the body of the wooden boat.
