The 30th edition of the Egyptian International Marathon was launched with the participation of about 520 runners from more than 20 countries in front of the Temple of Hatshepsut in Luxor.
A number of elderly runners also participated in the marathon, which confirmed the readiness of the Egyptian destination for senior tourism, in the presence of Ashraf Sobhi, Minister of Youth and Sports.
The marathon came under the auspices of the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, represented by the Egyptian General Authority for Tourism Promotion, Ministry of Youth and Sports, and the Egyptian Athletics Federation.
On her part, Iman Abdel Rahman, Director General of the Internal Offices of the General Egyptian Authority for Tourism Promotion explained that the authority’s sponsorship of the marathon comes in light of the authority’s interest in promoting sports tourism, within the framework of its promotional strategy, which sheds light on the diversity of the Egyptian tourism product that combines civilization and contemporary.
Its noteworthy that sports tourism product is one of the important tourist patterns that receives attention from the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, as it contributes to attracting various segments of tourists, especially youth.
