Following the immense success and massive turnout at the "Ramses the Great and the Gold of the Pharaohs" exhibition currently running in the Japanese capital, Tokyo, a new phase of the promotional campaign has been launched: a mobile advertising truck, known locally as a "Senden Truck." This truck is now traversing the main streets of Tokyo and other major Japanese cities.
The initiative aims to significantly raise public awareness, attract an even wider audience, and bolster the presence of Ancient Egyptian civilization in Japan. It offers the Japanese public a unique opportunity to engage with the world of one of Egypt’s most celebrated pharaohs through a critically acclaimed global exhibition.
The eye-catching truck features a massive visual display of King Ramses II, prominently showcasing the exhibition’s official branding and closing dates. This design is specifically intended to capture the attention of passersby and highlight the unique historical and cultural nature of the display. As the Senden Truck is one of the most effective and popular advertising methods in Japan, it is ensuring broad reach, particularly in high-density commercial and entertainment hubs.
Success and Extension Request
Dr. Mohamed Ismail Khaled, Secretary-General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities, expressed his delight at the exhibition's success. He noted that since its opening in March—inaugurated by Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Sherif Fathi and Tokyo Governor Yuriko Koike—the exhibition has welcomed over 350,000 visitors.
This high level of interest, driven by the Japanese people’s great passion for ancient Egyptian civilization, has prompted the Japanese side to request an extension of the exhibition period until January 2026.
Dr. Khaled also praised the ongoing success the exhibition has achieved across all its international destinations, which began in Houston, USA, in 2021.
