Egypt's tourism sector achieved an unprecedented and exceptional performance throughout 2025, welcoming approximately 19 million tourists. This marks a new record with a 21% growth rate compared to 2024, an achievement that reflects the growing strength of Egypt as a premier destination on the global tourism stage.

Mr. Sherif Fathy, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, emphasized that the milestones reached in 2025 represent a significant breakthrough. He noted that these figures confirm Egypt's competitive edge, bolstered by security, stability, and a clear integrated strategy. This vision focuses on diversifying Egypt’s unparalleled tourism products and patterns while enhancing the quality of services provided to visitors.

The Minister added that this growth significantly outperforms the global average growth rate, estimated at just 5% by UN Tourism (formerly UNWTO). This disparity highlights the confidence international travelers place in Egypt as a diverse, safe, and multifaceted destination.

Minister Fathy extended his gratitude to the political leadership for its unwavering support, and to the Cabinet and Government for their coordinated efforts across state agencies, which helped create an environment conducive to tourism growth. He also congratulated the private tourism sector and the Ministry’s staff on this collective success.

Key Hubs and Regional Growth

In 2025, the airports of Cairo, Hurghada, Sharm El-Sheikh, and Marsa Alam topped the list of the busiest hubs for international arrivals. This reflects the geographical diversity of Egypt's attractions and its success in drawing various segments of tourists from multiple markets. It also underscores the state's successful investment in infrastructure and airport development.

Archaeological sites and museums across the republic witnessed a surge in international visitors. Excluding the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization (NMEC) and the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM), these sites hosted 18.6 million tourists, a 33.5% increase compared to 2024.

The Rise of New Destinations

The year also saw a 32% increase in charter flight traffic. Notably, New Alamein City recorded an extraordinary leap, with a 450% surge in charter flights, establishing itself as a major new landmark on the international tourism map.

The Minister pointed out that the record-breaking results in New Alamein and the North Coast reflect the success of the political leadership's vision and the Ministry's strategy to diversify destinations. This approach aims to open new horizons for beach, leisure, and cultural tourism by integrating multiple experiences into a single, comprehensive journey for the traveler.

Furthermore, 2025 saw the operation of tourist flights from 193 cities worldwide to various Egyptian destinations, providing a clear indicator of the expansion of Egypt’s international aviation network and the rising global demand.
