President Abdel Fattah El Sisi received both US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and White House adviser Jared Kushner at his residence Blair House in Washington on Monday.
Sisi and Kushner discussed developments of the Palestinian issue and the peace process in the Middle East, according to statements of Presidential Spokesperson Bassam Rady.
“The US official stressed the Egyptian role’s importance in resolving the Palestinian cause,” Rady added.
On his part, Sisi emphasized Egypt’s unchangeable role to find a fair and permanent solution to the Palestinian cause based on international legitimacy and UN resolutions.

“The two-state solution and preserving the Palestinians’ rights will definitely lead to a new status in the Middle East overwhelmed by stability, construction, development and peace,” the Egyptian president stated.
He also pointed out to the Egyptian endeavors exerted recently to contain the escalating developments in Gaza and efforts aiming to reach a national consensus between Fatah and Hamas.
Boosting US-Egyptian Strategic Partnership
Pompeo was the first US official who Sisi met with in Washington few hours after his arrival at Blair House residence.
“The Egyptian president asserted Cairo’s keenness to foster and strengthen strategic relations with the US, believing that this partnership is the cornerstone of stability and safety in the region,” Rady revealed.
The US secretary of state warmly welcomed Sisi and stressed that the Egypt- US talks will boost the bilateral ties between Cairo and Washington.

“Pompeo expressed his country’s support to the Egypt's efforts to combat terrorism and achieve comprehensive development in the region,” Rady noted.
The spokesperson added that the meeting also tackled regional issues such as Libya, Syria and Yemen.
“Sisi stressed political solutions are the only appropriate solutions to solve those issues.”
Sisi - Trump Talks
The Egyptian president’s visit to Washington comes at the invitation of US President Donald Trump as part of efforts to enhance partnership between the two countries and maintain consultations on a number of regional issues.
Sisi-Trump summit will be the second official visit, but the sixth meeting between the two leaders.
Sisi is expected to hold talks with Trump on Tuesday at the Oval Office in the White House, followed by a working lunch.
