Egypt is set to participate in the 20th session of the World Youth Festival in Sochi, Russia, from March 1 to 7, 2024.

A preparatory committee headed by Engineer Ahmed Barani, a graduate of the Presidential Program to Qualify Youth for Leadership, was chosen upon receiving the invitation, with Dr. Abdullah El-Batash as the rapporteur.

The committee's first meeting, held in the presence of the Cultural Counselor to the Russian Embassy, Asya Turchieva, and Murad Gatin, Director of the Russian Cultural Centers in Egypt, reviewed festival details and the final number of potential participants that will officially represent the country in this international forum.

The festival will feature a range of cultural, sporting, and educational activities, workshops on volunteer work, and the development of the youth movement, with the participation of specialists in various fields.

Concerts, theatrical performances, and other events are also included. The festival's organizing committee has selected six languages for the festival.

The World Youth Festival, launched in London in 1945, just after the end of World War II, is regarded as one of the largest youth events in the world. The festival aims to create a unified vision among the world's youth about the future of humanity, spreading the language of peace, and raising the principles of friendship and solidarity among different peoples.
