Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly said the recently announced electricity price increase for restaurants and cafés will apply only to businesses that operate beyond the official closing hours set by the government.
Madbouly explained that the increase will stand at 20% for restaurants, cafés and shops that do not comply with the official closure schedule.
He added that the measure comes in agreement with businesses that wish to continue operating after the official closing hours.
The Prime Minister said the decision is linked to extended operating hours and does not apply generally to all restaurants and cafés.
