Egypt to Establish 2nd Largest Station to Monitor Space Debris

In a step intended to explore space, Egypt's government has decided to establish the second-largest station to monitor space debris, according to domestic reports.

According to a statement released by the National Institute for Astronomical Research (NRIAG), head of the space institution El-Kady said: "Currently, the country is working to complete the establishment of the second-largest station in the world, in terms of the diameter of the telescope, to observe space debris."

"The institute is witnessing several important construction projects, including the station project, which is carried out in cooperation with the Chinese side," the statement added.

Also in this regard, he stressed that work is underway to modernize some of the earthquake stations, pointing out that there is a new station that has entered service in the north of the Western Desert in cooperation with an oil company, as well as the modernization of another station in the Qena provenance and two stations south of the Eastern Desert near the Red Sea coast, according to the latest reports.
