On Tuesday, the head of the Egyptian mission operating in Saqqara, Dr. Mostafa Waziri, Secretary General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities is set to announce all the details pertaining to a new archaeological discovery in the area on Saturday, May 27.
Waziri is expected to announce the discovery of the largest human and animal mummification workshop in the Boubasiton necropolis in the Saqqara area, next Saturday morning.
As for the Grand Egyptian Museum, Waziry said work is in full swing for its opening.
Thousands of antiquities have already been transferred to the new premises and the work is scheduled for completion in November, Waziry added.
Currently there are 21 British archaeological missions working in Egypt: 18 in Egyptology and three in Islamic sciences.
