The National Museum of Egyptian Civilization hosted a special musical event titled "Strings of Friendship: An Egyptian-Swiss Musical Journey" in collaboration with the Swiss Embassy in Cairo.
The event was part of the celebrations marking 90 years of diplomatic relations between Egypt and Switzerland.
Attendees included Swiss Ambassador to Egypt Yvonne Baumann, public figures, celebrities, and art enthusiasts who regularly participate in the museum’s cultural programs.
Ahmed Ghoneim, CEO of the museum, welcomed the guests with a speech highlighting the museum's commitment to hosting cultural events as part of its 2024 season.
He emphasized the museum’s role as a cultural institution aimed at raising public awareness of art and heritage while fostering appreciation for diverse global cultures.
He noted the historical and cultural ties between Egypt and Switzerland and praised the importance of art and music as bridges between different nations.
Ambassador Baumann expressed her gratitude for the collaboration between the museum and the Swiss Embassy, underscoring the significance of the event as part of a series of activities commemorating the 90-year milestone of Egyptian-Swiss relations, running from June 2024 to March 2025.
The evening featured a duo performance by Egyptian violinist Medhat Abdel Salam and Swiss pianist Joseph Maurice, who played iconic classical and contemporary pieces by renowned composers, celebrating the shared heritage and artistic bond between the two nations.
