Egypt Reports 848 New Coronavirus Cases, 47 Deaths

On Tuesday, Egypt’s Health Ministry reported 848 new coronavirus cases, bringing the country’s total up to 377, 081 

The total number of COVID-19-related deaths has now reached 21457 nationwide after the ministry announced 47 deaths.

The statement added that 731 patients have been discharged after recovering from the virus, bringing the total number of recoveries to 313, 782 

In media statements on Tuesday, AstraZeneca Egypt director Hatem El-Wardany revealed that Egypt had talks with AstraZeneca for the past four months in order to be among the first countries to get the company's Covid-19 antibody treatment "Evusheld".

El-Wardany added that the treatment " Evusheld" was authorised for emergency use by US Food & Drugs Administration (FDA) earlier in December and that the Egyptian Drugs Authority was currently conducting its researches on the treatment in Egypt before its release in the country.
