Egypt Receives French Medical Aid for Wounded Palestinians

Egyptian Health Minister Khaled Abdel Ghaffar has received a new French medical aid shipment to support Egyptian hospitals treating wounded and sick Palestinians.

The shipment, provided by the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs, contains 22 tonnes of medicines, medical supplies and equipment.

Abdel Ghaffar said the assistance reflected the strength of Egypt-France relations and their shared commitment to supporting Palestinians affected by the war in Gaza.

The shipment was received at the national vaccine and serum complex in Helwan during a ceremony attended by French Minister Delegate for Francophonie and International Partnerships Éléonore Caroit, French Ambassador to Egypt Éric Chevallier and senior officials from both countries.

Abdel Ghaffar said French medical support had continued since the beginning of the Gaza crisis. A French medical ship deployed off the coast of Arish provided more than 1,000 medical consultations and carried out over 120 surgical operations.

France has also supplied various forms of assistance and admitted critically injured patients to its hospitals.

The minister said cooperation between Egypt and France also includes primary healthcare, universal health insurance, maternal and child health programmes and cancer treatment for Palestinian children in partnership with the Gustave Roussy Institute.

Caroit praised Egypt’s role in receiving and treating around 100 wounded Palestinians each day. She said the new shipment would support Egyptian hospitals and help ease the suffering of civilians from Gaza.

Abdel Ghaffar inspected the shipment and ordered its immediate distribution to the hospitals responsible for treating Palestinian patients.
